Introduction: Incivility is a widespread problem in today's health care. Indecisiveness and violent behavior are complicated problems in the nursing profession, which causes significant problems for nurses, patients and health organizations. The aim of this study was to explore the LIVED EXPERIENCES of incivility among a group of Nurses. Methods: This study was conducted based on the qualitative approach, using an interpretive phenomenological method. Using purposeful sampling method, 14 participants were selected and shared their EXPERIENCES regarding incivility at the workplace through individual, in-depth and semi-structured interviews. The transcribed interviews were analyzed based on the Colaizzi approach. Results: The LIVED EXPERIENCES of nurses regarding incivility in workplace emerged as “ Indurance in the way of destruction and humiliation” as the main theme. The extracted themes were “ Obvious and latent difficulties of being a nurse” including four subthemes (insulting encounter of the patient and accompanies; non-professional interactions; organizational and professional challenges; social challenges regarding profession). The second theme was extracted as “ multi-dimentional breakdown” including three subthemes (psychosocial and personal instability; negative physical responses, forthcoming professional threats and damages). Conclusions: Incivility behaviors among nurses can affect the quality of services provided by them. Therefore, considering factors that lead to incivility in nursing workplace is necessary.

Abstract:

Introduction: Permanent cardiac pacemaker implantation, and introducing a foreign body into the heart, a part of the human anatomy that symbolically represents emotions, may be considered a major life event. Therefore, it is recommended that the healthcare team gain understanding of the experience of pacemaker patients and present information based on patients’ EXPERIENCES in order to actively involve the patients in the administration and management of their illness process. The aim of this qualitative study is to explore the patients' EXPERIENCES of living with a permanent cardiac pacemaker.Method: In this study, descriptive phenomenological method and the Colaizzi's proposed stages were used. Purposeful sampling of patients with single and dual chamber cardiac pacemakers was performed. Overall, 13 interview sessions were held with 10 participants. The minimum duration of an interview was 35 minutes and the maximum 54 minutes. The data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Results: The emerging themes according to the qualitative data are embedded in the Iranian socio-cultural context. They consist of five themes: living with pacemaker, pacemaker identity, balance in control, consequences and relief. Conclusion: The findings of this study, as a small image of the large and complex world, can be used in order to design and implement effective care for pacemaker patients. Having a clearer understanding of these patients’ EXPERIENCES will help healthcare workers to design supportive and caring programs that will meet these patients’ needs more holistically.

Abstract:

The aim of study was to explore teachers’LIVED EXPERIENCES about implementing work and technology curriculum. Phenomenology research was used. Fifteen participants were selected through purposeful sampling. They were teachers of the seventh and eighth grades of lower secondary schools in Karaj. Data colledted through semi structured interviews and tape recordings. The results showOfficials’ignorance of the teacher’s practical knowledge, lack of the appropriate strategy for evaluation, a limited time frame and inadequate equipment that make teachers less motivated and for some of them a withdrawal from training programs.Improving teachers' attitudes towards new curriculum will be possible, considering professional and continual training service, providing an appropriate teaching context, exchange of EXPERIENCES among teachers and ongoing teachers relationship with officials.Research findings indicate that administrators and parent’s knowledge in the new curriculum need for revision and culture promotion through increased knowledge and using the curriculum in student’s life activities.

Abstract:

Aim: The aim of this study was to identify the LIVED EXPERIENCES of children whose parents had extramarital relationships. Method: This qualitative research utilized an interpretive phenomenological approach. The study population consisted of children aged 18-22 years whose parents had extramarital relationships. Using targeted and snowball sampling methods, 10 children were selected until data saturation was achieved. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with the participants, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed according to the method of Smith and Osborne (2015). Results: Six main themes were extracted from the data: 1) children's exposure to parents' extramarital relationships, 2) children's interpretation of parents' extramarital relations, 3) changes experienced by the child within the family, 4) personal injuries inflicted on the child, 5) interpersonal injuries inflicted on the child, and 6) posttraumatic growth following parents' extramarital relations. The essence of the children's experience was "the desire to restore the family and return to the conditions before the extramarital relationship occurred, while being aware of its impossibility." Conclusion: The findings suggest that children's lives are profoundly affected by parents' extramarital relationships in multiple ways. It is necessary to provide support systems tailored to the needs of these families.

Abstract:

Background: Today, liver transplantation is a routine procedure in the treatment of patients with end stage liver disease and its survival rate is high. In order to promote health, nurses and other health care professionals need to discover the meanings of LIVED EXPERIENCES after liver transplantation. It is important for nurses to know what patients really experience; appropriate nursing intervention can be extracted from such understanding. This study aimed to describe the meaning of LIVED EXPERIENCES of liver transplant patients after discharging from hospital. Methods: A Phenomenological approach was chosen for the study. Unstructured and open–ended interviews were conducted with 9 liver transplant patients. The method of analysis described by Colaizzi (1978) was utilized. Results: According to Colaizzi, seven categories emerged: support, gradual adaptation, transplant outcomes, concerns, fallow up, gratitude and waiting for transplant. The patient’s physical and mental problems prevented them to fulfill personal goals before transplant. Although they had some concerns such as fear of graft rejection, they were at the peace with the world after transplantation. Lifelong medications were identified insignificant for the participants. Social support was essential for recovery and meeting other recipients in the same situation as well as sharing health and life EXPERIENCES is an important aspect among liver transplant patients. Health professionals were universally praised in the study however the fallow up care they received from them was not desirable. Conclusion: Health professional especially nurses should take a more active role in continuing care for such clients. Also, the support patients give each other should be encouraged and aided by health care team.

Background: Suicide is a serious problem in the field of public health and is currently the tenth leading cause of death worldwide. Shockingly, statistics show that every 11 minutes, one person loses their life to suicide. Suicide is a complex phenomenon involving individual, emotional, social, psychological, and genetic factors. People who commit suicide have diverse LIVED EXPERIENCES. Since unsuccessful suicide attempts are more common in women than men and it is one of the important risk factors for future suicide, the purpose of this study was to investigate the emotional LIVED EXPERIENCES of women who have attempted suicide. Methods: To conduct the present study, from all women attempting to commit suicide who had referred to the Social Emergency of Meybod City, Iran, 9 people were selected using purposive sampling. In order to collect data, semi-structured interviews were conducted, and data analysis was performed using the 7-step Claizian method. The reliability and validity of this research were based on the criteria of "transferability, reliability, verifiability, and authenticity". Findings: The findings from emotional EXPERIENCES included 7 main categories: "experience of spouse betrayal", "experience of marital problems", "emotional inefficient coping methods", "experience of negative feelings", "experience of lack of warmth and support from the family", "experience of parental marital discord", and "experience of sexual abuse in childhood and adolescence" and 15 subcategories. Conclusion: Most women who commit suicide have experienced sexual, physical, and emotional abuse during their childhood and adolescence.
